About the Role

The Communications Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Internet Society Foundation’s Philanthropy function as we advance our Communications strategy. This position works closely and collaboratively with members of the wider team (Programs, Operations, Monitoring and Evaluation) to develop and execute the Foundation’s Communications Strategy. The Communications Specialist will support the development and execution of the Foundation’s social media, website and storytelling strategy, using a solid knowledge of social media best practices, digital strategy and solid writing skills. The Philanthropy function is a small team of passionate, collaborative, and driven staff that depend on each other to move our mission forward; this is true of this critical position.



The Communications Specialist will be required to work collaboratively, handling multiple priorities and activities across the entire program portfolio. (S)he will be a well-organized, flexible individual with strong verbal and written communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced, globally diverse setting and is comfortable working in a start-up environment. A solid history of collaboration within and among teams is a must, as well as demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness. Proficiency in French or Spanish would be a plus, though not a requirement for this position.



He/she will manage relationships with the Executive Director, Program Officers, Operations Staff, and Monitoring and Evaluation team to ensure that communications efforts for the Philanthropy function are aligned in support of the Foundation’s strategic, operational, and programmatic goals.
